- We have been unable to determine where our Jared Wright KNOWLTON
came from when he migrated to Portage County. He was born in
Connecticut, married in Massachusetts to Molly KING, and may have
lived in Rensselaer County, New York before Portage County. It might
be that he migrated to Ohio with other New England families shortly
after the War of 1812, since he was a veteran of that war. Their
son, William, married Charity HIGLEY. Any help would be greatfully
appreciated.

- Hello! I am researching a marriage of a Mary Foust to Jacob
Himebaugh, in Stark County, Ohio, on April 30, 1837. Is it possible
that you might be able to place her in a Foust family? I believe
that she would have been born about 1816, as she appears
consistently at that age in the 1850 and 1860 Portage County census
records, along with her husband and children. She married Jacob
Himebaugh, who seems to have been born in Pennsylvania, and has
moved to Ohio with his 2 brothers, Peter and George. (All appear in
the 1850 and 1860 censuses in Portage County, Ohio). It is not clear
just where in Pennsylvania they came from... I will appreciate any
help you may be able to give me - I have just discovered these
records, and am just beginning to search for Mary's family.
