I would like to know if anyone has any information on the 7th Ohio Volunteer Infantry (Civil War regiment with Portage County boys). I know that they saw action in many major battles but I would like to know which soldiers made it back home. James LYNN would be the one I am most interested in. I am also researching the CADY, WILCOX, GUNDER, MELOY & MELLEN families of Portage County (Kent & Brimfield). I can be reached via E-Mail at Derby Dad@aol.com.

COLE posted by Owen and Sue Hill on Thursday, May 7, 1998

COLE, Aseneth Catherine Cole b. 19 December 1856 Garrettsville, Portage Co. According to OK obit, Aseneth had 2 brothers: W.C. Cole and P.B. Cole. From obit, "While a small child she moved with her father to Atlanta, Georgia, returning to Ohio in 1864, after the bombardment of Atlanta by General Sherman's troops. They then moved to Hamilton, MO ..." We are searching for data on Aseneth's parents and her brothers' full names. We assume that Aseneth's mother died before she and her father moved to GA. We are looking for death data on her mother, also. Thanks

APPLETON, BOND, BROWER, CRANMER, MYERS, RYLAND posted by Bobby Dobbins Title on Saturday, May 9, 1998

I am looking for the link between Hannah MYERS RYLAND APPLETON (2 husbands died), Jeremiah and Abraham CRANMER, who became surety and bondman for her kids after Appleton died, and why she died as Hannah CRANMER. When she was widowed the first time in 1823, she had 2 young children under age 5. Daughter Matilda (m Daniel BROWER) and son James (m Charlotte BOND). She went to live with her folks (who?) in Wayne Co, OH. After marriage to Appleton she was in Portage County - that part that became Summit. She died in Summit Co. in March of 1850. Does anyone else have these Cranmers and can you help me unscramble this puzzle? All help appreciated! Bobby in California
